    First day

    We leave Arequipa at around 7.30am-8.00am in a 4x4 vehicle to the drop off station at 5'000 m. From there we are going to start walking until the basic camp on 5'300 m. It normally takes between 1 and 2 hours to reach it. The walk during the first day is quite short and not too difficult. At the basic camp we are going to set up the tents and have dinner afterwards. Very early, at around 5.00pm we are going to bed.

    Second day

    Early in the morning at around 1.00am we start again and are going all the way up to the top. We reach the summit after six, seven hours. We have a beautiful view on Arequipa and the whole volcanoes chain. After spending some time on the top we will go down again to the basic camp to grab all our belongings and then down to the drop off station where the car is going to be waiting for us. We will be back in Arequipa at around 3.00pm-4.00 pm.

    The best time to climb on this region is between April and September, that is, during the Andean summer.
    During the rest of the year, it is also possible to climb them, but it is more likely to have some bad weather.

    First day

    At 8.00am we leave Arequipa in a 4x4 vehicle. At the north side of Misti on 3'500 m we start with the tour. Every participant receives at this point his sleeping bag, tent, plate, fork… and everything else. Everybody needs to carry everything by him or herself. After a short break for having lunch we continue until the basic camp on 4'600 m. The whole walk takes about 6 hours. At the camp we are going to have dinner very early and then go to bed at around 5.00pm. It is possible to get vegetarian food.

    Second day

    Early in the morning at around 1.00am we start again and are going all the way up to the top. On the way we have a few short stops to relax. From the top we can see the main crater and another smaller one. We also have a beautiful view on Arequipa and the volcanoes Chachani, Pichu Pichu, Coropuna and Ampato. After about 15-30 minutes we are going down again to the basic camp. After a short break we start walking all the way down to 3'500 m where the car is waiting for us to take us back to Arequipa. We will arrive at around 3.30pm.

  • COLCA CANYON TREKK 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS

    COLCA CANYON TREKK 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS Departure time at 6:30am

    6:30 AM Pick up time from your hotel
    Once we take our transport, we will travel for 3 hours to get Chivay
    9:45 We get CHIVAY, We stop here just for a few minutes, after that we travel for 1 hour and a half to get CABANACONDE
    11:45 We get CABANACONDE and we have our LUNCH, After that we take our transport to get PAMPAS SAN MIGUEL in order to start the trekk
    12:45 We get PAMPAS SAN MIGUEL, and we start our trek

    About 2.5 hours into the trek we’ll cross the bridge at the bottom of the canyon. From here it’s another half hour to the first village, San Juan de Chuccho, where we’ll have lunch and a short break. We’ll continue hiking up the canyon another hour and a half to Cosñirhua where we’ll have dinner and spend the night with a local family.
    We stay in HOMESTAY

    SECOND DAY

    Breakfast will be around 7am. After breakfast you have the option of hiking an hour and a half to Tapay, capital of the Tapay district. We’ll return to Cosñirhua for lunch and activities such as trying on the local dress and picking fruit at the far. After lunch we’ll hike 2 hours to Oasis de Sangalle where we’ll have dinner and spend the second night. One the way we’ll pass through Malata, the last village on this side of Colca Canyon, and see some pre-Inca farming terraces.

    THIRD DAY

    We’ll wake up at 4:50am to start our 3-3.5 hour hike out of the canyon to Cabanaconde. After breakfast is Cabanaconde we’ll have a 2 hour bus ride to get the Calera hot springs. The bus will stop at a couple viewpoints for photos along the way (CRUZ DEL CONDOR and other view points. You’ll have about an hour at the thermal baths before we continue to Chivay (10-15 minutes away) for a buffet lunch.

    Note: If you do not wish you hike out of the canyon you can hire a mule for about 60 soles.

    Continuing on to AREQUIPA, we will make a couple more stops -- first at the Salinas and Aguaga Blanca National Reserve to see llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas and second at Patapampa Pass (4910 m.s.l.), the highest point on our trip where you can see the chain of volcanoes including Hualcahualca, Sabancalla, and Ampato.a nd We’ll arrive in AREQUIPA between 500-5:30 pm.

  • CONVENTIONAL TOUR WITH SOME SHORT TREKS COLCA CANYON 2 DAYS 1 NIGHT

    FIRST DAY

    7:30am pick up from your hotel in Arequipa (2325 m.s.l.). We will take the highway to Yura, first passing through Pampa de Arrieros and Pampa Canahuas where we will see vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, and migratory birds along the way. We will continue to Viscachani where you will enjoy some Coca tea to help with the altitude. From here we will continue the trip viewing tokras, ponds, wetlands, and perhaps some flamingos and ibis.

    We also stop in PATAHUASI, Where you will have your special tea from high land

    Finally, we’ll arrive at Patapampa Pass (4900 m.s.l.), the highest point on our journey, and known as the volcano viewpoint. From here we’ll see a chain of volcanoes that include Hualcahualca, Sabancalla, and Ampato, the famous volcano where the Inca mummy Juanita (viewable in Arequipa) was sacrificed over 500 years ago.

    From Patapampa Pass we will descend to the town of Chivay (3646 m.s.l.), the capital of the Colca Canyon region, where you will have lunch in the afternoon you will take your private transport to travel to Cabanaconde,

    On the way the bus will stop in some view points before to get Cabanaconde

    SECOND DAY

    An early (7:00am) breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast, we do SOME SHORT trekks to PAMPAS SAN MIGUEL and ACHACHIHUA view point (40 minutes flat way),after that we take our PRIVATE TRANSPORT and we’ll set off for Cruz del Condor (about 20 minutes drive) considered the best viewpoint to truly appreciate the vast expanse of Colca Canyon and also the prime location for condor viewing.

    Afterwards, on our journey back to Chivay we’ll see archeological sites, pre-Inca farming terraces, and stop at other Colca Canyon lookout points. We’ll pass through the towns of Pinchollo, Maca, and Achoma, and then stop in Yanque to see some typical churches, artisan markets, and view the typical dress of the region.
    We will go to the hot spring in CHIVAY (Countryside)
    After that We have lunch back in Chivay before departing for Arequipa. We’ll arrive back in Arequipa around 5:00pm.

  • Full Day Tour Colca Canyon - "with some short treks - optional"

    Itinerary:

    At 03:30 a.m or 4:00am or 4:30am. we lleave Arequipa driving for 3 and a half hours towards Chivay; The capital of  the Colca Canyon on north west direcction behind snow-covered Chachani. Breakfast.

    Then we continue driving for 2 more hrs towards the most visited point “ the Cross of the Condor” here we are able to see the depth of the canyon and the flight of the Condor.

    The area presents beautiful tipical towns, like Yanque & Maca, colonial churches, gently people with tipical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre inca terraces still in use with andean growings like corn, quinua, kiwicha among others.

    After Lunch we come back to Arequipa; on the way we stop at the highest pass: the view point of the Volcanoes and snow covered mountains in Patapampa (4,800 m. - 15,000 ft.). Later we will see wild vicuñas, alpacas & llamas in Pampa Cañahuas national reserve, some birds like flamingoes, ibis, andean gooze, ducks, andean eagle "Kara Kara". ( 17:00 hrs. approx. Back in Arequipa .). 

    EXTRA INFORMATION: We can have lunch in the only restaurant located at the border of the canyon close to CRUZ DE CONDOR "In LA GRANJA restaurant" (While we see the condors, we can have our lunch) and we can also do some short treks

    SECOND DAY

    We usually spend 3 hours going down to get the bottom, once we get the bottom “OASIS DE SANGALLE” We have our lunch after that we can enjoy the time in the swimming pool and we have the chance to walk a bit more

We’ll have breakfast in Chivay before continuing on to Cruz Del Condor, one of the best places to view the vast expanse of Colca Canyon and a prime location for condor viewing. After about 40 minutes at Cruz del Condor, we’ll continue driving for another half hour to Pampas San Miguel where we’ll start our hike.
