6:00 or 6:30am or 7:00am or 7:30 or 8:00am We pick you up from your hotel in a 4×4 transport to take you to the Pichu Pichu volcano until about 4250 meters for 1 hour and 30-minute walk through the Misti volcano and the traditional village of Chiguata.

 

I arrive at the point called the Cruz where we will give the necessary equipment to develop the tour are the bicycle, gloves, helmet, knee and elbow pads having all necessary equipment will begin; bicycles handled about 1 hour and a half watching the natural landscapes that shows us our volcanoes Misti and Pichu Pichu, the truck will be behind the tour passengers and prevent any mishaps. Arriving at the traditional village of Chiguata they are uploaded to the truck 4 × 4 and return to the city of Arequipa at 12 and 30 pm.

We leave Arequipa at 7am to start the 380 km ride by 4×4, heading in the direction of the “petrogliphs of Toro Muerto”, located in the Corire district, about 3 hours from Arequipa. Here there are around 5 miles of engraved stones to be seen. These engravings are dated between 700 & 800 AD, from the time of the Wari culture.

We’ll pick you up at your hotel or hostel in Arequipa at either 8:30am or 2:30pm and head for our first stop, ascending the hill town of Sachaca, with its stacked houses resembling stairs, to visit Sachaca Lookout, from where we’ll be able to see the entire city, the majestic volcanoes which surround it, the idyllic countryside of Arequipa, Tiabaya, Goyeneche Palace, and Hunter District.01

We’ll then continue on to rural and traditional Paucarpata, where we’ll appreciate a striking set of Inca and pre-Inca agricultural terraces still in use, along which graze alpacas and vicuñas. After visiting Paucarpata’s Plaza we’ll continue onward to the 16th Founder’s Mansion constructed by the city’s founder.  It’s also known as Goyeneche Palace due to its striking 18th century renovation.

We’ll also visit the 400-year-old Sabandia Stone Mill, powered by a neighboring waterfall and worth seeing for its stately sillar architecture alone, you’ll have the chance to see the traditional method of grinding grains as well as appreciate the pastoral beauty of its surroundings.

We’ll then continue on to the traditional town of Cayma on the right of the Chili River; our destination is Carmen Alto Lookout. On the riverside we’ll be able to see the well-conserved pre-Inca agricultural terraces surrounded by ancient paths. The terraces, built by Yarabayas, are sill in use today, as are the pathways and an irrigation channel which tends to much of Cayma and Yanahuara’s agricultural lands. We pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa and We travel for two hours on the road Arequipa to Puno, we will take an old road for going to Pillones Waterfall. We will start hiking along Sumbay River, walking up for around one hour until arrive to Pillones waterfall.

At Pillones watferfall you can enjoy the beautiful nature and relaxing with the sound of the water falling down. We will have time to enjoy some snacks, before returning.

We return along the same way, this time we will climb a little for getting to the transport; our next stop on route on Pillones Waterfall and Imata Hike tour will be the Stone Forest of Imata.

In this beautifull place, we will hike surrounded by rock formations with enigmatic figures, which have shapes of animals, people, and magical beings.

 

You will have the sensation of walking in a place out of this world, we hike through the forest of stones for two hours approximately.

 

Return to Arequipa, approximately at 5:30 pm.

We will take the highway to Yura, first passing through Pampa de Arrieros and Pampa Canahuas where we will see vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, and migratory birds along the way. We will continue to Viscachani where you will enjoy some Coca tea to help with the altitude. From here we will continue the trip viewing tokras, ponds, wetlands, and perhaps some flamingos and ibis.

About 2.5 hours into the trek we’ll cross the bridge at the bottom of the canyon. From here it’s another half hour to the first village, San Juan de Chuccho, where we’ll have lunch and a short break. We’ll continue hiking up the canyon another hour and a half to Cosñirhua where we’ll have dinner and spend the night with a local family.
