THE SHORT TREKS ARE OPTIONAL

We will have breakfast at the edge of the canyon, one KM from Cruz del Condor

WHY OVERNIGHT IN CABANACONDE VILLAGE?

CABANACONDE is:

•         Located almost at the edge of the canyon
•         Lower altitude than other village so it is warmer and more traditional
•         Really local place, not touristic
•         It is really close to the most beautiful viewpoints to see the canyon
•         Staying in CABANACONDE, we can go to Cruz del condor two times on sunset and early in the morning.
•         We can do some short treks and we can visit some local viewpoints

 Note: The short treks are optional (We can do some short treks for 1 hour or 2 hours or 3 hours or longer)

FIRST DAY

We’ll pick you up at 6:00am/6:30am from your hotel in Arequipa and travel by tourist minivan to Chivay, the capital of the Colca Canyon region. Along the way we’ll stop at...

• The Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve to see llamas, alpacas,andvicuñas.
• Patahuasi for a cup of coca tea
• The wetlands to see various migratory birds
• The small village of Pulpera
• Mollepunko to see rock art
• The Callalli stone castles
• Sibayo, a local Colca Valley community
• The Tuti community

From Tuti community Pass we will descend to the town of Chivay (3646 m.s.l.), the capital of the Colca Canyon region, where you will have lunch

in the afternoon you will take your private transport to travel to Cabanaconde,

On the way the bus will stop in some view points before to get Cabanaconde

SECOND DAY

An early (7:00am) breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast, we do SOME SHORT treks to PAMPAS SAN MIGUEL and ACHACHIHUA view point (40 minutes’ flat way), after that we take our PRIVATE TRANSPORT and we’ll set off for Cruz del Condor (about 20 minutes driving) considered the best viewpoint to truly appreciate the vast expanse of Colca Canyon and also the prime location for condor viewing.

Afterwards, on our journey back to Chivay we’ll see archeological sites, pre-Inca farming terraces, and stop at other Colca Canyon lookout points. We’ll pass through the towns of Pinchollo, Maca, and Achoma, and then stop in Yanque to see some typical churches, artisan markets, and view the typical dress of the region.
We will go to the hot spring in CHIVAY (Countryside)
After that We have lunch back in Chivay before departing for Arequipa. We’ll arrive in Arequipa around 5:00pm.

On the second day, we will have breakfast in a restaurant at the border of the canyon which is one of the most beautiful viewpoint to see the canyon and condors while we have breakfast (Located only 1KM from Cruz del Condor)
