Pick up time from your hotel
Once we take our transport, we will travel for 3 hours to get Chivay
We stop in Cruz del Condor for about 30 minutes and we take our transport one more time to get CABANACONDE
We get CABANACONDE where we have our Lunch, after that we take our transport to get PAMPAS SAN MIGUEL where we start our trek
About 2.5 hours into the trek we’ll cross the bridge at the bottom of the canyon. From here it’s another half hour to the first village, San Juan de Chuccho, where we’ll have lunch and a short break. We’ll continue hiking up the canyon another hour and a half to Cosñirhua where we’ll have dinner and spend the night with a local family.
Breakfast will be around 7am. After breakfast you have the option of hiking an hour and a half to Tapay, capital of the Tapay district. We’ll return to Cosñirhua for lunch and activities such as trying on the local dress and picking fruit at the far. After lunch we’ll hike 2 hours to Oasis de Sangalle where we’ll have dinner and spend the second night. One the way we’ll pass through Malata, the last village on this side of Colca Canyon, and see some pre-Inca farming terraces.
We’ll wake up at 4:50am to start our 3-3.5 hour hike out of the canyon to Cabanaconde. After breakfast is Cabanaconde we’ll have a 2-hour bus ride to get the Calera hot springs. The bus will stop at a couple viewpoints for photos along the way (CRUZ DEL CONDOR and other viewpoints. You’ll have about an hour at the thermal baths before we continue to Chivay (10-15 minutes away) for a buffet lunch.
Continuing on to Arequipa, we will make several more stops -- first at the Salinas and Aguada blanca National Reserve to see llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas and second at Patapampa Pass (4910 m.s.l.), the highest point on our trip where you can see the chain of volcanoes including Hualcahualca, Sabancalla, and Ampato. and We’ll arrive in AREQUIPA Between 500-5:30 pm.
